"Let the little children
come to me . . ."
Mark 10:14
| God Created. . . When teaching days three (plants) and six (animals) of creation, use a chain game to help young children develop a concrete awareness of God's creative work. For day three, begin by saying, "On the third day, God created [a plant beginning with the letter "a"]. The second child continues, saying "On the third day, God created [a plant beginning with the letter "a"] and [a plant beginning with the letter "b"]. Continue around class, helping children as necessary. While playing, try to cover as many aspects of plant life as possible--trees, flowers, vegetables, fruits, grains, etc. For instance, "On the third day, God created apples and birch trees and corn and daisies," etc. For day six, play game the same way, except alter wording to "On the sixth day, God created [an animal beginning with the letter "a"]. Besides helping children comprehend the extent of God's creative work, this game also helps very young children develop language and pre-reading skills. |
